Toss this affordable, lightweight, fully waterproof emergency piece in your pack or pannier in case of stormy weather. Features fully seam-taped, waterproof construction; elastic waist with drawstring and cord lock; two specially angled hook-and-loop cinch straps keep pant legs away from chain and crank; reflective trim for visibility; zippered back pocket and mesh stuff sack.
Sizing note: Keep in mind that if you are layering this piece over street clothes you may want to order a size larger than usual.
These pants kept exterior water from intruding during strong downpours over a two-hour ride. They also created a significant amount of moisture inside (from sweat). Moisture was running down the interior legs and on to my feet when I released the cuffs. They were advertised as "water proof" and were, but don't expect to stay dry; you will still end your ride soaked from the inside.
showers pass storm pants
A customer from Patagonia on 2/13/11
I am heading back to sun from southern patagonia. I used the showers pass for a lot of different things from camping in the rain, to riding in the rain down 1200km of dirt. For the price they perform as expected, they block the wind and rain. They are not thick but if you know how to layer that is not an issue.
