I have now gone through two of these, one being replaced under warranty. The end that goes through the lock wears out and then gets stuck in the lock keeping your bike locked to whatever it’s wrapped around with the need then to find someone to cut it off. Also I have had the metal inside twist up against the lock so the end cannot go through the lock. I do have to say I did like this lock until I had these problems. And when you’re looking for someone to cut off your lock while on a bike tour you get quite upset.

This weighs about the same as my old cable lock but much easier to roll up. Cable lock was like a coiled spring of annoyance. Great design.

When commuting and running errands, I have my heavy duty lock, but when riding with guests, my family or friends, I always take 1 or 2 of these long ottolocks cause I can easily loop 3 or 4 bikes. Generally theses outings don't involve leaving the bikes for long times and I know these locks are enough to keep a convenience thief from cashing in and we will get to keep having fun. Easy to use, light, and having had to cut one open before, (long story), it isn't easy to break!

Finally a light lock long enough (60") to secure both front and rear tires, With weight not being an issue I carry it everywhere!

A wonderful piece of technology to keep your bike secure. Probably not adequate for NYC but it will definitely thwart or at least greatly slow down thieves when you're in a coffee shop or away from your bike for a short time. Lighter than a cable lock and easily stuffed into a pack or jersey pocket. Just make sure you get a length appropriate to your needs (it comes in 3 lengths).
