Say "Yes" to the Power of Bike Travel!

December 13, 2017

“We were meeting the real America, not the one you see in the news. If you haven’t already, you will fall in love with this country.” –Adventure Cycling member Bill Foreman on his 2017 TransAm ride

If you’ve spent much time traveling by bike, you’ll agree that America is full of good people. Strangers become friends when they offer a bottle of water, a place to camp on the lawn, or even a story about their own life-changing experience. These encounters remind us America is a place where you’ll find generous people and welcoming communities.

Now more than ever, America needs the power of bike travel.

Support from Adventure Cycling members has helped build a more connected America by creating new bike-friendly routes, opening Amtrak to cyclists, bringing tens of thousands of new cyclists onto roads and trails, building an ever-larger official U.S. Bicycle Route System, and encouraging states, cities, and towns to become bike-travel destinations. Together we have done so much — but this coming year, we can do so much more.

Will you donate today to help us spread the power of bike travel to all corners of America?

Donate before midnight on December 31 and your donation will be matched by our Holiday Trailblazers. With our biggest match pool ever, at $196,500, we need your help!

We have ambitious plans for 2018. With your donation, we’ll be able to:

  • Unveil an extended and greatly revamped Great Divide Mountain Bike Route, complete with a fresh new map design and a full suite of digital products
  • Research and develop a wonderful year-round southern route, the Arkansas High Country Mountain Bike Route, start developing our next new paved route, offer more digital map products, and update the entire Adventure Cycling Route Network — the largest in the world!
  • Open up new areas to safer riding, including in national and state parks
  • Dramatically expand our work to create more access for bikes on trains as well as airplanes
  • Expand the official U.S. Bicycle Route System and also get more states to sign their routes, including the TransAm, further linking America’s cities and rural areas
  • Engage younger adventurers through the National Youth Bike Summit, specially designed youth tours, and the Greg Siple Award for Young Adult Bicycle Travel

Donate and receive one of these thank you gifts.
