Tripsite.com has seen the great success of the Build It. Bike It. Be a Part of It. campaign and the growth of the U.S. Bicycle Route System (USBRS) and is sponsoring a $1,000 match challenge to keep the momentum going. Donate now to have your contribution matched by Tripsite.com!
We recently sat down with the folks at Tripsite to learn more.
Please tell us about your company and its history.
Tripsite was founded in 1999 by the van den Hengel family and is still owned and operated by the same family! Fueled by our love for cycling, the journey began in the spare bedroom of the family home, and sixteen years later has grown into an international company.
Why do you support the U.S. Bicycle Route System?
Born and raised in Holland, we’ve had the privilege of exploring much of Europe and its magnificent network of cycling paths, particularly in the Netherlands. Wouldn’t it be wonderful if we could all step out our door and ride safe bike routes, whether it be in rural Pennsylvania (Tripsite headquarters), Montana, or anywhere else in the U.S.? We love cycling and the vision of the U.S. Bicycle Route System to develop a network of routes that will encompass more than 50,000 miles is inspiring.
For years we have advocated cycling in Europe and other continents and now, by supporting USBRS, our hope is to give more people the opportunity to ride and explore this country on our own bicycle network. What an awesome opportunity for all of us!
In addition to supporting the USBRS, we are also a corporate and long-time member of our local and national Rails-to-Trails, East Coast Greenway Alliance, and the League of American Bicyclists.
Is there a particular tour you’d like to share?
Our local partners design the itineraries that showcase the cultures and areas they call home and we are honored to offer an incredible variety. It is difficult to pinpoint one tour over another.
We recently had the opportunity to travel to the Balkans and were impressed with the cycling and adventure spirit that is growing there, as well as in other developing countries.
We already showcase Albania, Bulgaria, Greece, and Croatia, and soon we’ll be adding new cycling adventures in Macedonia, Serbia, Montenegro, and other Balkan countries.
The development and constant improvement of the electric bike now allows us to offer an e-bike option on the majority of our tours, providing the opportunity for everyone, young and old, to experience a tour regardless of the terrain or skill level.
Anything else you would like to share?
We are very proud of Tripsite’s blog, where our clients and friends share their experiences traveling the world. Once people experience the bike, they inspire others to do the same. It might sound cliché, but it is true: the bike has the power to connect us all.
“Our goal is to provide an opportunity for every traveler to explore the world and enjoy the journey, one pedal stroke at a time.”
