Spotlight on Julie Huck, Membership Director

And now ... for someone who really needs no introduction. If you're a member of Adventure Cycling, chances are you've talked to Julie -- she has worked here for over 26 years! Julie loves the outdoors, and is well known in the Missoula community for her involvement with the Dirt Girls, a group of women who get together weekly to mountain bike, ski, and hike.

How did you you get into mountain biking?

My friends were starting to ride so I went to the old Braxton bike shop and had Sam Braxton build me a bike. It was painted pink and turquoise. Everyone called it the Miami Vice Bike.

What is your favorite thing about working at Adventure Cycling?

I like the people who work here and I like the members. It's a pleasant, positive work environment with a healthy mission.

Who do you find particularly inspiring?

This isn't just one person, but I'm really inspired by watching people try something new and get rewarded. When we do our weekly Dirt Girls rides, we have women of all abilities who can learn at their own speed and style and do great! Their enthusiasm really heartens me and keeps it fresh.

What is your favorite piece of gear?

I love my BOB trailer! Hook that baby on the back of your bike and you know there's an adventure coming up, and nothing can stop you!
