4 Tours for Exploring the Eastern U.S.

January 7, 2014

Happy New Year! Are you ready for some fabulous bicycle touring in 2014? Here are four of our favorite tours for exploring the eastern U.S.

Southern Sampler, May 9 - 20

If you are curious about touring the southeast, our Southern Sampler trip is a superb self-contained bicycle tour that visits the cities of Charleston, South Carolina, Savannah, Georgia, and St. Augustine, Florida — all full of character and history. The tour route follows Sections 5 and 6 of the Atlantic Coast Bicycle Route, acquainting you with the history of the area, its culture, and Southern hospitality. Near the end of this trip, the group will visit the Okefenokee National Wildlife Refuge for added adventure!

Blue Ridge Bliss - North Carolina, June 7 – 13

If you love fully supported road touring, you don’t want to miss the Blue Ridge Bliss - North Carolina tour in early June. The scenery on this tour is truly spectacular! Departing from Cherokee, North Carolina, and traveling north to Virginia, you’ll ride along the Blue Ridge Parkway for nearly 300 miles through the southern Appalachian Mountains. You’ll take in the unparalleled natural beauty of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park and ride near the iconic Appalachian Trail.

Bar Harbor, June 14 – 21

The Bar Harbor, Inn-to-Inn tour combines the joys of self-contained road touring with the comfort of indoor lodging and dining at unique local establishments along the route. If you haven’t been to the coast of Maine in early summertime, you’re in for a treat! The tour begins in Bangor, Maine, and proceeds to the city of Ellsworth, traveling along the northern Atlantic seaboard. One of the highlights of the tour will be your time spent in stunning Acadia National Park, the oldest national park east of the Mississippi.

Cape Cod Pilgrimage, June 14 - 21

Our van-supported Cape Cod Pilgrimage tour begins in Plymouth, Massachusetts, embarking on an exploration of Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard, and other unique and historic seaports, museums, and lighthouses. At the end of the tour, we'll enjoy the Cape Cod Rail-Trail system as we wind our way back to Plymouth.
