There are many reasons why designating U.S. Bicycle Routes is good for your community and state. Here are the top 10 ways that the U.S. Bicycle Route System (USBRS) benefits everyone in America. Support the USBRS today!
The USBRS brings bicyclists and their tourism dollars to the states, communities, and businesses along the designated and mapped routes.
The USBRS integrates and promotes local bicycle routes and networks in a national system, creating new bicycle tourism destinations.
With USBR signs you’ll know when you’re on a national bicycle route, and all you have to do is follow the numbers.
Signed U.S. Bicycle Routes create awareness of bicyclists’ presence on those roads, so motorists know to watch for them.
Designating U.S. Bicycle Routes requires buy-in from local and state road owners, meaning that roads and trails along routes will be managed for bicycle use.
The USBRS expands local, regional, and national route options for bicycle touring and commuting, so more people can get to more destinations by bicycle.
U.S. Bicycle Routes provide active transportation options for people around the country to improve their health through bicycling.
More people riding bicycles means less traffic congestion and better air quality for everyone.
U.S. Bicycle Routes link urban centers with train and bus connections that expand travel options for bicyclists.
Studies have shown that people who bicycle are happier than people who drive or take public transportation.
The U.S. Bicycle Route System is a partnership project that wouldn’t exist without the support of people who believe in the power of bicycling to transform our lives and communities. Adventure Cycling is the only organization that dedicates staff time and resources to the USBRS, helping make this vision a reality. We can’t do it without your support.
The Build it. Bike it. Be a Part of it. campaign raises money for the USBRS throughout the month of May. Connect with us on Facebook, Twitter (@usbicycleroutes), and Instagram to follow the campaign, and please consider donating to help grow the USBRS.

This is such a great initiative and system that too many are not taking advantage of. All 10 points hit the nail on the head on why the US Bicycle Route System is a program that we all need to support and utilize.
Glad someone posted an article about this. Time to break out the ol' bike for the summer and start building up my stamina!
KEEP YOUR BIKE IN GOOD RIDING CONDITION AND IT'LL KEEP YOU IN GOOD CONDITION YEAR ROUND.
