Sera (they/she) is a bicycle mechanic and program coordinator who manages the VCU university bike shop and alternative transportation program by day, and volunteers as a collective director at Richmond’s DIY bike shop, Rag & Bones Bicycle Cooperative, by night. They believe that bikes can be an empowering tool for community connection and social justice, and have experience designing programs to teach people of all ages and abilities to ride bikes and to fix those bikes themselves.
Alexa (they/them) is the shop manager at Bellemeade Community Bike Shop, a community and youth-focused shop that brings more cycling resources to Richmond’s Southside. For many years prior they were involved in spaces of community organizing, specifically around the topics of queer, immigrant, and racial justice. As a bicycle mechanic since 2018, they strive to combine both their passion for community organizing and their love for biking into creating unique programs that make cycling and the outdoors more accessible.
