I am planning to ride from Irvine CA to Portland ME beginning in May 2027. Looking for riding companion(s) that are interested in joining me for all or parts of this self-supported adventure that has been on my cycling bucket list for decades. Daily distance and plan is flexible but figuring to ride an average of 75-90 miles per day depending on terrain, weather, site-seeing, etc. but also incorporating a rest day every 7-9 days. Route has been determined that mostly follows Route 66 / TransAmerica / Underground Railroad / Northern Tier routes. I am a male 60-65 and predominantly a road rider; focused on enjoying riding everyday to see areas of this great country for the first time. I plan to stay in hotels, utilize WarmShowers, and do some camping. Although I’ve done several solo multi-day tours (including Erie Canal, C&O/GAP, circumference of Lake Ontario, plus others), this will be my longest adventure.
