I met Robbie in Watsonville, CA outside a farm side fruit stand. He, like me, was a wayward vagabond without a clear destination in mind. The ride was enough. To be in the sun watching the landscape slowly shift and transform by the power of one’s own legs was enough. I could see that from the moment I saw him on his power blue bicycle with bright orange panniers wearing a wide-brimmed hat, a stalk of grass hanging listlessly from his mouth. Here was someone who got it; the epitome of life as the journey. -John Kenny
