My wife got this and it is very nice quality and well made...I am too vain to use one but must admit it is well worth having for touring ,to the point even I am admitting the function may beat out my vanity....on a recent ride I was some distance behind her when she was wearing the florescent yellow version and I must admit it is not as visible as you would assume...it definatly is not bad to have the bright color but I just notice that since brim is so horizontal that its definatly not as visible from a distance as you would assume so get whatever color you want and just get a bright helmet and wear yellow vest...she has no issue using her helmet mirror and the practical purpose of blocking the sun works great..it extends out far enough to totally protect you from all but very low angle sun positions......she uses a regular roadbike helmet and it locked on tight and has stayed put well...the ability to adjust brim up and down via velcro strap helps to adjust it for a more leaned over sportbike ride angle so the brim doesn't block view...I was impressed with the brim quality,it feels tough and strong for what I incorrectly assumed would be floppy foam..its pretty stiff actually and doesnt really flap from what I have seen, tho she said she feels she like the "flying nun" at times and I admit I can see the similarity, but since it does its job so well then who cares...you do need to cut the small white tag off(the typical tag that says 100% nylon/wash instructions) as it will flap and buzz as you ride....overall, for touring I think it is great and I must admit I may end up with one when I accept that protection from sunburn and skin cancer are more important then my vanity...

Who should buy this: People who like to ride their bike comfortably and be easily seen Who should not buy this: If you listen to fashion tips from people who own shoes they can't walk in and think wearing spandex is the height of fashion. I have owned this for 2 years now. I bought it for the sun (which it does block very well) and to have a brim while riding at night to shield car headlights (which it also does well). The set up took some fiddling to make it so the brim wouldn't fly off the helmet, but is now firmly in place and I haven't had any issues . I used a bit of string to tie it to some vents in my helmet in the beginning so that if did fly off, I wouldn't have to stop and turn around in the event that it did. I keep the string on because it is large and sometimes gets caught on stuff while walking around and can pop off (but not while riding). What I was not expecting was how well it blocks the rain from my eyes and how much people notice me while wearing it. Everyone can agree that a rain block would be a welcome feature, but being noticed took some time to get used to. I paired this brim to a florescent yellow helmet, and it is VERY noticeable. Fellow cyclists and pedestrians look at me either with smiles, or I might get a comment from a road biker on my fashion sense (both positive, neutral, and derisive). Drivers can't miss me, as I see their eyes following me -- it is not ordinary looking and it is so bright. Overall, this accessory is a huge win. It is highlight functional and highly visible. And for those who think it looks silly -- it's better to look like an idiot while riding than not be seen!

I spent 30 minutes trying to get it to stay on my helmet. Then I realized I was doing it backwards! Once I turned it around, I was able to secure it to the helmet quickly and easily. I have an extra large helmet to fit my big head, but the size was not a problem. It fits fine and feels like it would take a hurricane to get it off. Best of all, it keeps the sun off my face. Very happy with my purchase.

Some people may not see this as the most stylish bike product. That's ok.s It does such a great job that you won't care. Trust me. Plus, it doesn't look quite as silly as you think in person. I bike in the blazing summer sun with 95 degree temps and high humidity. As soon as I got this, I could instantly tell the difference. It is like knocking 10 degrees off the temperature. You can't appreciate the effects of taking 360-degree shade with you all the time until you try it. Also, the hat directs the wind down over my kneck. SOOOOOOO much better. Every friend I've ridden with who has seen it in use is now getting one. I had some concerns when I bought this. Would it fit my helmet well? Would it blow off, act like a sail, etc? After 6 weeks of heavy use, the answers are that none of my concerns were warranted. It goes on and off your helmet in no time. Once it is on, you really don't notice it. I tilt the brim on the front up, and it doesn't obstruct my view at all. It is surprisingly rock-solid in a wind. I have done descents on bumpy gravel, into a wind, at around 45 mph and although I can feel the wind on the hat, it doesn't move at all. Of course, at that speed, you are aware of it, but it is not a bad thing. Once, in a heavy side-wind, it was not as convenient, but I was still glad to have it. Plus, in the last six weeks, I have had no sunburns, haven't had to use sunscreen on my kneck, ears, and face, etc. I have also worn it in two downpours. It is not rainproof (it doesn't cover the center of your helmet after all), but it kept all the water off my eyes. When I got it, I thought it seemed a bit expensive. Now? Worth it.

Provides great shade, receive lots of compliments but acts like a sail in any wind created while riding. This causes my helmet to constantly shift slightly, rendering my mirror ineffective and in need of unending adjustments. I'm not able to put helmet on any tighter.

Living in central Florida and just being operated on for skin cancer on top of my ear, I knew I had to do something to protect my entire head. I saw Da Brim in the past but was worried about it flapping up in front. My dermatologist had one and said it worked well. So I bought one and wished I had one years ago. It works very well, after the first 5 minutes of riding I forgot it was on and rarely notice it. The only exception is during a strong head wind gust, it can somewhat lift your helmet but nothing major. Highly recommend.

I purchased my DaBrim hat for my bicycle helmet and pretty much fell in love with it. On one of our many rides, my wife wanted to give it a try, so I let her. Since then, my options were to get her a DaBrim or forever not have one for me. So, of course, I ordered her one and she loves it just as much as she loved mine. Really, it is cooler on the head and face and my 'squint lines" are starting to fade. What a double whammy!!!

I've had my Brim for about 3 bike rides, 60 miles total. It has no trouble in light winds; have not tried it in medium or heavy winds. I like that the green will make me more visible to others. I found that I can tilt it to help keep bugs out of my face when biking through buggy swarms (hooray!). It wasn't that hard to put on my helmet. I did have to remove my mirror and figure out a new way to attach it (on the helmet), but it seems to work. What I didn't expect is that it is surprisingly heavy. It is easily heavier than my helmet, a weight I didn't notice at all, but now it has doubled. I had expected it to be light, but I think both the (wire?) brim and the rubbery pieces used to secure it to the helmet could be the weight culprits.

I love my Brim! I’ve been touring with it for 2 years, on the recommendation of my dermatologist after my 3rd surgery around my nose. It works great, and is also a great visibility tool. I’ve had many auto drivers tell me how visible I was with my bright green brim.

I like it! Not only is it comfortable for wearing during sunny days, but visibility is also an important factor in why I like wearing it! I'm riding a Catrike nowadays and it just adds a new dimension to being seen on the road!

I just wore this for two weeks biking around Normandy. It does what it is supposed to, but do still put on lots of sunblock since it's coverage is not absolute. I bought one after meeting a guy at a group ride in California as "making you feel less dried out and parched at the end of the day" and that's entirely accurate. It is also, however, quite useful in the rain. It's not waterproof, but it will keep water from falling directly in your face, and reduce the amount of water that would go down your neck into your jacket. On high-speed downhills you feel some lift, but with a well-adjusted helmet nothing too distracting. The only place where it was annoying was on a day when I was in a cross breeze for several hours; the tilt pushed on my sunglasses and was uncomfortable. You can take it on and off easily, and it stays when it is on, but it can be a little challenging to store it while touring: pretty much the only place I had that could fit a giant flat disk was on my head. Finally, I did not expect this to be a conversation piece, but it is. Children point at you. Teenagers occasionally snicker. People just come up to you and start asking questions about your "bike hat". You may or may not like this -- I sort of thought it was ok, I was touring alone an could use the occasional conversation starter -- but it is a baked-in feature. Lucky for the Da Brim people, they are making a self-marketing product where the users pretty much have to explain it to strangers. As I'm writing this ACA is out of stock of yellow and states tan is discontinued; however, there is a gray version of this that apparently replaced tan that I was able to buy on the Da Brim website (as of summer 2017), hopefully ACA starts stocking it soon.

I bought this rim in the ACA office. What a wonderful place to be and extremely inspiring! I used the rim after this and I liked it. There are two downsides on this rim; Fixing the rim to the helmet isn't easy and hard. Also it is not easy to take it off (and on) Descending is hard because the helmet is blowing backwards because of the rim. But I will use it definitely again when I in summer conditions and hot areas.

Take shade for your face and neck with you. I've ridden at speeds over 30 mph with complete stability of Da Brim. It did take some imagination to install rear view mirror. A great product to keep sun off.

I do a lot of bicycle touring in southern Florida. This product offers superb sun protection and reduces glare while riding. It can be finicky in regards to getting it to seat properly on your helmet, but once adjusted, all good. Can't say how many of these I have helped sell, as many, many people see me wearing it and ask where such a product can be purchased.

I swear by the DaBrim. The sport brim is much better for speed, on recumbent and upright. With an extension to my helmet mirror, it works well too. Us older riders don't need another C thing to worry about. Young riders should join the prevention club also.

A must in the AZ desert sun where skin cancer is epidemic. Great shade on face and neck. Does not seem to be a problem in wind or at 20 mph. I have since bought the DaBrim for wife, adult kids and brother. We all love them. Other cyclists stop us to ask where we found "the hats". I won't ride during the day without my Da Brim.
