USBR 66 follows a bike-friendly version of Historic Route 66, connecting Illinois and Kansas. The route takes in historic Route 66 treasures and original stretches of roadway as it wanders through the countryside, showing off traces of an American icon as it stood half a century ago.
USBR 76 mostly follows the Adventure Cycling TransAmerica Trail, from the Mississippi River in Chester, Illinois to the Kansas border. It passes through the hilly Ozark Mountains, which are blanketed by hardwoods and pines, small farms, and numerous rivers; and in western Missouri, the route intersects the 35-mile Frisco Highline Trail in the small town of Walnut Grove.
