A Hitchbiker's Guide Through Africa

5000 km through Nambia and Botswana
A two-and-a-half months round trip thorugh Namibia including a visit to the Okavango Delta in Botswana. Through the Kalahari to the Okavango Delta, then through Damaraland (northern Namibia), then turned South along the Skeleton Coast to Swakopmund. The southern loop took us to Keetmanshoop by train and then left us cycling to the Fish-River Canyon, to the Orange River and north again along the famous Namib Desert. (Waltraud Schulze, Nov, 1998)

Uganda; between gorillas and volcanoes

Undiscovered South Africa
We cycled along the south coast and crossed Lesotho. We traveled through mountainous Eastern Lesotho to Thaba Tseka, Katse and then to Leribe and Butha Buthe were we left the country. Back in South Africa we continued through Golden Gate and Royal Natal National Parks via Howick and Pietermaritzburg back to Durban. (Paul van Roekel, Sep, 2002)

Mt. Kilimanjaro Circumnavigation
We circumnavigated Mt Kilimanjaro going counterclockwise, starting from the Marangu climbing gate, through the high mountain forests of Rongai, skirting the Kenyan border and Amboseli Natioal park, and ened in Ndarakwai reserve. This was an exploratory trip and we believe the first time a group has circumnavigated Kilimanjaro on bikes. (Philip Giovannini, Nov, 2003)
