Motivation: I rode all over my hometown regularly; I figured I go somewhere further. I'd seen bikers on the Blue Ridge Parkway/Skyline Dr. in '72 and wanted to tour also.
Most Challenging Aspect:I had to learn to use gears to climb. Having come from south Georgia, I had no climbing experience until hilly So. Ill. where the tour began.
Favorite Experience: I loved the riding, and I loved the long lunch stops. The group was all good company.
Least Favorite: The worst of my trip was sliding off the road, onto wet grass - bent my front fork. I was fine, because I disengaged my body from the bike before it hit a boulder. George used his ingenuity to straighten my forks with a piece of pipe.
