Summary: Road west to east, departed late May, 1976. 15 in camping group. We were the "Tomadachis"--Japanese for "friends" as we had Yuigi from Japan with us. I remember you, Bob Hess!; Commercial Trip
How did ACA Help? Great fun in a group. Maps were informative and got us across the country.
Health Issues: Crashed in Hazard County, Kentucky--suffered an "out of body" experience and concussion. Didn't ride for 4 days, but finished the rest!
Motivation: All I ever wanted to do was to ride my bike. I toured with a girlfriend after high school in 1974--one month around the state of Michigan. Upon our return I was ready to empty my bank account and head west, but read an article about Bikecentennial and decided this was a trip for me.
Most Challenging Aspect:Ending it.
Favorite Experience: Meeting people along the way.
Least Favorite: Dysentery in Wyoming.
Tips: Have fun.
