Rider: Hans Kornalijnslijper; 36 years old, computerscientist, Non-Member NETHERLANDS Email
Summary: The Ridge was a drag, but the many rolling hills thereafter, were a joy to ride; Kansas' never ending cornfields awsome like a desert; the Ozark Mountains the nicest of landscapes. The detours Teton Pass and Lost Trail Pass were the crowns on my trip.; Self-Planned
How did ACA Help? All maps and environment booklets. Allowed change of start location.
Health Issues: Being bitten in the ankle by a doggy.
Motivation: For a biking addict, no motivation was needed. Just the unique occasion.
Most Challenging Aspect:Teton Pass on gear 44:26 Finding a room near Idaho Falls and near Grand Teton National Park.
Favorite Experience: Getting help so easily; being invited for a free meal on Independence Day; to stay the night with a forester in Missoula; getting the last available room in the Snow King Mountain Lodge of Jackson Hole; getting the bikeshop owner's own racingtrousers in Springfield; etc.
Least Favorite: Being routed along an unpaved road littered with glass and getting flat tyres one after another, so bad that I made a detour.
Tips: See your bike being in utmost condition, front&rear light and reflectors included. Have 2 bidons and always enough water. Have a Belgian spare tyre on such a long trip. Stay always a yard or more from the roadside, to avoid dangerous overtaking by cars.
