Summary: I had never been west of PA before this trip. Completing it stands as one of the things in my life that moved me most, and that I am most proud of.; Commercial Trip
Health Issues: None! But I had thunder thighs when I was done, that's for sure!
Motivation: A pre-review in Bicycling Magazine in late 1975. "There are some grueling, anti-fun days. That said, go. You most regret the things you don't do in life." So I went!
Most Challenging Aspect:Crossing the Mississippi was challenging for me: I almost had an emotional breakdown. I had never been west of PA before this trip! Somehow that psychological barrier was difficult to move past.
Favorite Experience: Soaking in the Jerry Johnson Hot Springs in Idaho. Discovering Wyoming: like a Martian landscape! The people everywhere: oh my, were they *wonderful*!
Least Favorite: Riding for several days in the rain on winding roads in OR, blown around by logging trucks. Either that or the days in KY when people threw sodas at us from their pickup trucks and threw rocks through our tent flies at night....
Tips: You most regret the things you don't do in life: do this one. :-)
