Motivation: I wanted to experience the thrill of seeing the U.S. by bike and, for the first time, visiting the Western states.
Most Challenging Aspect:Biking the rough and sometimes broken paved roads through the mountains of Eastern Oregon
Favorite Experience: Crossing the beautiful Cascades and learning about the Native Americans of the West, some of whome I had never heard of before. I also learned a valuable life lesson as a result of my participating in the Bikecentennial ride: how comfortably one can live on so little.
