Ride Description

My partner and I rode right out of our house in Harpers Ferry, WV. From Harpers Ferry NHP, we crossed the Potomac River to the C&O Canal Towpath, riding the towpath to Brunswick, MD. Beautiful country roads took us through Washington and Frederick Counties, MD, returning to the Canal and Harpers Ferry at the end. The high point (literally) of the ride is a long, steep climb up to Reno Monument, right atop South Mountain and on the Appalachian Trail. That also provided our lunch stop. Though the weekend was too busy for an overnight trip, it was good preparation for a 2-week bike ride around Alabama in a couple weeks.
