I'll try to cut out of work a bit early on Friday the 25th and will ride from my home in Holly Springs, NC up to the Eno River State Park Campground north of Durham, NC. It's about 45 miles but a big chunk of it is on the American Tobacco Trail which is a nice no-car-traffic way to get through the congested areas of Raleigh and Durham. I'll be on my 2016 Marin Four Corners gravel bike which easily handles the load of overnight camping gear and supplies!
I'm not expecting the difficulty level to be too high and while I've not camped there previously, the NC State Park campgrounds are generally quite nice - the overnight fee here is very reasonable ($12) - https://www.ncparks.gov/eno-river-state-park/home.
On Saturday morning, I'll head about 15-20 miles away to a horse farm where my wife and daughter will be attending an event. I'll likely be lazy and catch a ride back home with them unless the weather and the legs are especially good!
Registration for this event is currently closed. Check back soon for the launch of Bicycle Travel Weekend for 2021!
