The ride will be 25 miles out and 20 miles back. The ride is mostly dirt roads riding close to the gorge. A mountain bike or gravel bike is required. (I ride a fat bike bike.) The terrain has modern hills. The final climb to the base of Ute Mountain is steep. Ute Mountain is part of the Rio Grande del Norte National Monument (BLM).
This event is not overnight. Meet south of the Cerro Community Building Saturday at 9:00 a.m. at New Mexico 378 and Abregadero Road. The location is 2 miles off of New Mexico 522. The ride is 4 to 5 hours. Pack a lunch and water.
There is primitive camping at Wild Rivers Recreation Area. The fee is $15.00 a night.
Registration for this event is currently closed. Check back soon for the launch of Bicycle Travel Weekend for 2021!
