This is a solo out and back journey northward on Michigan's Leelanau Peninsula. The southern portion is on the Leelanau Trail, a paved rail-trail. Beginning at Sutton's Bay, the trail ends and the rest of the journey is along Grand Traverse Bay on highways and county roads. There is a camping fee at the state park which is also the site of an historic light house, the Grand Traverse Light. Although it is a state park, facilities are very limited. No showers and vault toilets. But the campsites are nice and it is located right on Lake Michigan and the northernmost portion of Grand Traverse Bay. The nearest places for food are a long bike ride away so a rider needs to bring all they need with them.
Registration for this event is currently closed. Check back soon for the launch of Bicycle Travel Weekend for 2021!
