Ride Description

I start in La Mesa, but riders can meet me at the Presidio Little League fields at Hotel Cir. Place.

I ride the San Diego River Bike Path to Ocean Beach (Dog Beach). From OB I take the coastal bike path to Pt. Loma Ave. Up a steep two blocks heading for Catalina Av. Up Catalina to the entrance of the Naval Base.

You pass Ft. Rosecrans National Cemetery on your way to the Monument's entrance gate.

If you plan on entering the Monument, bring money or your annual National Parks pass.

The Monument's outside viewing areas are open. Great views of San Diego Bay and North Island.

Coming home I take Harbor Dr. past the airport, PCH to Washington St. At the top of the hill (not steep, but almost a mile long), is Hillcrest. Plenty of restaurants and coffee spots in this area.

From Hillcrest, I take Meade Av. home to La Mesa.
