I've always wanted to do the bike ride from Pittsburgh to D.C. on the Great Allegheny Passage (GAP) trail and the Chesapeake & Ohio (C&O) Canal Trail. I've never done a bike overnight, so I decided for this year's Bike Travel Weekend, I'd take off a few extra days to finally complete my dream!
I've already booked my hotels, but I figured I'd post this to see if anyone else might be doing the Pittsburgh to D.C. trail that weekend or might be inspired to tag along! Here's my itinerary:
Day 1 (9/24) - 69 miles
- Start in Pittsburgh (mile marker 140)
- Lunch at Connellsville (88)
- Stay in Ohiopyle (71)
DAY 2 (9/25) - 71 miles
- Lunch in Rockwood (43)
- Stay in Cumberland (0)
Day 3 (9/26) - 60 miles
- Lunch in Little Orleans (140)
