There is no train running in the CVNP this year. We would still like to do a ride in the NE Ohio area on the weekend.
We are gauging interest in this as a group-ish ride. Social Distancing, physical distancing, masks when needed, etc. Planning on the southern portion of the Ohio Erie Canal Towpath trail between Bolivar and Akron. The distance between the two is a little under 45 miles. We would start Saturday morning ride from one end or the other, stay over night, and ride back to the cars on Sunday.
All that I know about this portion of the trail, is like the northern section, it appears to be mostly crushed limestone. If anyone has ridden this one, feel free to weigh in with any info that you may have.
And also feel free to weigh in on starting in Bolivar or Akron.
There is one hotel in Bolivar, about a mile from the trailhead (Sleep Inn, ~$93/night), a few restaurants and a brewery. In Akron there are a few hotels within a couple of miles of the train station.
Registration for this event is currently closed. Check back soon for the launch of Bicycle Travel Weekend for 2021!
