Now that states are opening campgrounds, 5 Friends and I decided to explore campgrounds near the capital Trail, which runs from Richmond Virginia to -williamsburg Virginia. We are camping overnight at Chickahominy riverfront park, Chippokes plantation State Park, and Ed Allen campground. Our goal is to enjoy the campgrounds while testing our cross country touring/camping equipment and bicycles. Low daily mileage and mostly flat terrain, which includes a ferry ride, makes for low level of difficulty. Shared campground cost totaling $47 per cyclist. We will be cycling some backroads but mostly on the Capital Trail, all asphalt roads. I'm not sure if this trip, June 3 through June 6, 2020, qualifies for Bike the Park event? I'm the ride leader. Weather forecast calls for some rain showers.
