One or two days a year, Tioga Pass in Yosemite National Park is open to bicycles only. The next day it is open to cars. Timing this tour to be there on the day the pass opens to bikes only is the goal. Should be sometime around June 10th. Waiting until Sep. 25th will be more traffic.
From Crane Flat campground to the Pass is about 55 miles and a 5,000 ft grueling climb to 9,045 ft. The third highest pass in the US. Folks may choose do it up and back in one day.
I will be fully loaded, camp at Crane Flat, up and over to Lee Vining hotel, up Hwy. 395 to Bridgeport hotel, 4th night camped at the base of Sonora Pass, last day up and over Sonora Pass.
