Ride Description

The Chesapeake and Ohio Canal trail is a National Historic Park that is made up of a 164-mile stretch of crushed/packed gravel trail. We'll be doing a tasteful bite-sized piece of the distance! This overnight trip is designed for beginner DC bicycle tourists to gain experience on a locally accessible bike adventure. The overnight location is hiker/biker friendly (first-come-first-serve, cost-free for bike tourists), with minimalist amenities (think just a bathroom, potable water). Participants will need their own tent, sleeping bag, and food preparation plan. The ride guides (hello!) is happy to provide support and advice in advance of departure. The ride will depart from and return to a DC bike shop who can help with ride prep and, dare I say it, ride recovery (there's a liquor store next door).
