Ride Description

Our route is primarily bike trails to the Mississippi river and across. Once we're on the Minnesota side of the river we come to the a small town named La Crescent, MN. Without entering La Crescent we turn south on Hwy 16 and travel about 3 miles along some railroad tracks traveling straight south to sweeping turn the locals call Miller's corner taking us south west. Most of the route from here is rolling hills on Hwy 16 traveling through Houston county. There is small shoulders to first town we pass through called Hokah, MN. The shoulders are larger from to the county seat Houston, MN. In Houston we catch the paved bike trail built on the old trail road route. The bike trail is nice and flat follows the root river. The trail takes us on through Rushford, MN towards Walan, MN. Just before reaching Walan, MN we turn right onto County Road 23 taking us to Gibbons Greek for free camping next to trout stream. It is just a mowed area with only a fire pit, but it is free camping.
