Tours of a Lifetime

Much to our delight, National Geographic Traveler featured our Great Lakes Inn-to-Inn tour in their recent piece, "2013 Tours of a Lifetime." Margaret Loftus writes, "Largely unknown except for the regional visitors who have vacationed here for generations, northwest Michigan and the Upper Peninsula are stellar biking country, with gently rolling hills, historic waterside villages, and sweeping Great Lakes vistas."

Although the featured Great Lakes Inn-to-Inn is full, we have another way to experience this hidden regional cycling gem. Our fully supported Great Lakes Relaxed tour still has space available and incorporates the quiet roads and pleasurable riding of Michigan’s Upper Peninsula into our popular, fully supported, relaxed tour format.

This story led us to think about the rest of our 2013 Guided Tours and which would qualify as "trips of a lifetime." Our cross-country bike tours certainly top the list, whether van supported or self contained, but for a shorter adventures not to be missed? Here are our picks:

Bar Harbor, Inn-to-Inn is a stunning tour. Departing June 8, this trip will explore the gorgeous Maine coast and spend 3 days in and around Acadia National Park. If you've never been to Maine, or are captivated by the idea of experiencing its glorious landscapes by bike, try this tour!

The self-contained Cape Cod Pilgrimmage tour promises to be a mouthwatering coastal adventure, from the views of the Atlantic and inland landscapes, to the seafood and seasonal foods (namely, ice cream) enjoyed along the way. Departs June 15.

On our fully supported Cycle the Gorge adventure, you can expect nothing less than lush as you spin past rain forests, orchards, and waterfalls. Plus, the trip starts on the edge of Portland, so why not take in that bicycle-friendly city just before or after this beautiful Northwest bike tour? Departs June 22.

The fully supported Freedom Flyer tour traverses iconic American landscapes and our shared history from Philadelphia to Washington, DC. This tour passes through Valley Forge National Park, past covered bridges and picturesque farms, and travels alongside the Susquehanna River. This American classic departs June 26 and rolls into DC on July 4. What a way to celebrate!
