Thank You for Being Part of the Montana Bicycle Celebration

Cyclists leave Travelers’ Rest State Park with their bikes decorated with cardboard horse cutouts after the Bitterroot Trail ribbon-cutting ceremony.

Thank you for making the Montana Bicycle Celebration a success. We enjoyed celebrating the 40th anniversary of Bikecentennial and bicycle travel with people from all over the United States and the world. Here are some highlights from the weekend.

<b>Bike Travel Memorabilia & Equipment Display</b><br /> The Bike Travel Memorabilia & Equipment Display was a really special time to not only look at some treasured items from Bikecentennial and other epic adventures, but to talk to these amazing bike travelers and hear firsthand of their incredible experiences. Many of the bikes and other items that were on display had been tucked away in storage in basements and other places across the USA for many years, but they were dusted off and they all came alive during this special event that took place on Friday, July 15.

<b>Hiawatha Trail ride</b><br /> The ride was beautiful! But I met so many interesting people on our bus to the Hiawatha! Dick from Montana: a 76er who makes tipis for a living, plays the bagpipes, and toured in a country western band before all of that. Allen, a 76er from San Diego (where I also live): a retired prison wood shop teacher. Stanley (formerlly from San Diego) who used to live in my San Diego neighborhood before he retired.
