Adventure Cycling recently introduced maps for its new route: Chicago to New York City Bicycle Route (CNYC). While we highly recommend dropping everything you’re currently doing, be it quitting your job or taking a sabbatical, to ride this new route, not all of us can do that.
However, we here at Adventure Cycling’s online Cyclosource store can help recommend a few items we think would be useful for this new route, or even a ride to your local park. And with summer’s arrival, here’s some gear to avoid that nasty sunburn and heatstroke!
First up is the Da Brim Sporty Helmet Visor.
Da Brim specializes in making a sun-shielding, high-visibility product that will not only help keep the sun off your face, but also keep you more visible to cars.
In addition, while the Da Brim will shield your head and shoulders, keep in mind your arms and legs! Two products that specialize in this form of protection are Voler SOL Skin Spectrum Leg Protectors and Canari UPF Arm Protectors. Both products are designed to shield your skin from the sun’s rays without making you feel overdressed.
And when your making a day of bike travel, keep in mind that a light, quick, pitstop bicycle lock might be something you’d want! While not recommended for long overnight lock ups, the RavX Combo X Pocket Lock, weighing just 1.7 ounces, will keep your bike safe and secure if you need that quick bite to eat without the worry of someone speeding off with your beloved ride.
Whether your riding the TransAm or your local park, or venturing to your favorite watering hole, here’s to a great riding season from your friends here at Adventure Cycling’s online Cyclosource store in Missoula, Montana — happy trails!
