Riding the Oregon Coast

February 3, 2015

The 2014 Oregon Coast Loop tour was my first bike respite — one the benefits of working at Adventure Cycling. Here are a few of my tour photos to tell the story of the joy of riding the Oregon Coast!

The route and the riding on the Oregon Coast Loop are varied. There are a few long stretches (from Eugene to Corvallis) some tough climbs (crossing the Coastal Range) and some traffic on the PCH, but these were interspersed with fruit stands, nut orchards, unique coastal towns like Newport and Florence, a kayaking trip from the Siltcoos River to the ocean with plenty of cool breezes, and wildlife too. There were some amazingly quiet country roads and unique misty coastal byways too. All a nice reprieve from the summer heat!

Lots of roadside attractions – cool bridges, farm houses, sheep and more!

My riding days were beautiful and memorable, especially as I was riding by bicycle in Oregon for the first time, and in such good company too! The Oregon Coast event director, Pete Strause and his staff were always there in support of the group, cheerful, fun and willing to make the best of any circumstance and the catering by Kathy and KJ Productions was the very best! All lasting memories for me! The 2015 Oregon Coast Loop ride still has plenty of room, so plan to head to Oregon this summer — it's your turn!
