Ride with us from Grand Rapids to Chicago to support the U.S. Bicycle Route System

March 12, 2014

You're invited to join us on one of the Climate Rides or Climate Hike! Adventure Cycling is a beneficiary of Climate Ride, and this year's team ride will be Climate Ride Midwest, a spectacular 4-day ride from Grand Rapids, MI, to Chicago, IL, from September 6-9, 2014. We are still beneficiaries of Climate Ride California Wine Country (May 17-20, 2014), Climate Ride NYC-DC (September 20-24, 2014), and Climate Hike Glacier National Park (August 24-28, 2014) so if you'd rather ride on one of those Climate Rides, you can still support us. We're looking for volunteers to form and lead teams for those rides too. Contact the Development Office at development@adventurecycling.org if you're interested in forming a team for Adventure Cycling.

Last year Adventure Cycling supporters raised nearly $7,500 by participating in Climate Ride, and this year we'd like to double that! You can sign up for any of the Climate Ride events and select Adventure Cycling as a beneficiary. On Climate Ride Midwest, you can actually join our team and ride with a staff member from Adventure Cycling. We'll announce the team captain for Climate Ride Midwest soon.

New this year, all the rides have hotel options

Climate Ride California Wine Country (May 17-20, 2014) is a 4-day, fully-supported cycling adventure that begins in San Francisco, heads north up the coast and through Wine Country to California’s Capitol in Sacramento.

On Climate Hike Glacier National Park (Aug. 24-28, 2014), you can spend five days hiking the iconic trails on the 'Crown of the Continent'.

Climate Ride Midwest (Sept 6-9, 2014) is a 4-day, fully supported biking adventure that begins in Grand Rapids, Michigan, and explores the back roads of Lake Michigan. You’ll ride past historic lighthouses, blueberry farms, and quaint artist villages before the triumphant arrival in Chicago.

Climate Ride NYC-DC (Sept 20-24, 2014) is a grand cycling adventure that connects two of the nation’s iconic cities — New York City and Washington, DC, by bicycle. The ride begins with an exciting departure from Manhattan by ferry, and then travels through charming towns in rural New Jersey and Amish Country. The finale is a hero’s welcome and rally at the steps of the U.S. Capitol.

Participating in a Climate Ride event is an inspiring journey with a group of people who are united to support sustainability and protect our planet. Climate Ride also features an acclaimed nightly speaker series, known as the ‘green conference on wheels,’ where we hear from bright minds in policy, advocacy, and innovation.

Anyone who has participated in Climate Ride raves about the tour as a ‘life-changing’ and ‘eye-opening’ experience. What is even better is that you can enjoy this great event, while at the same time helping to support Adventure Cycling’s mission. If you select us as your beneficiary when you register or join our team on Climate Ride Midwest, we will be the recipient of the funds you raise, which means our efforts will gain even more traction in the future.

Registration for Climate Ride is $100 (which includes a beautiful jersey or hiking shirt and more), and then you raise at least $2800 to participate in an all-inclusive event. You'll get additional swag from Adventure Cycling to give as gifts to donors and to use on the ride. The ride is fully supported by a team of talented leaders. Climate Ride is with you every step of the way to help with fundraising and training. To top it all off, Climate Ride is one of the 'greenest' multi-day charity ride events in the world as the entire ride's carbon emissions are mitigated with carbon-offsets.

When you sign up, you’ll be joining many other people who want to do something to help create a better future for all of us. Climate Ride is a great way to get involved and experience an incredible adventure powered by your own energy. Sign up as soon as you can to secure your spot in the events!
