The newest additions to Salsa’s line of bikepacking gear have landed and they are glorious in both form and function.
The Anything Cage HD (heavy duty) is constructed of impact resistant Nylon that holds up to the occasional smacking around. Like the original, it’s only designed to be used with Salsa’s Three-Pack braze-on (looks like a standard cage mount but with three equally-spaced bolt holes). This pattern appears on bikes by Surly and others as well.
While slightly heavier than the original (149g vs. 98g) the resilience and strap routing options may be worth the weight penalty.
The backside of the HD cage reveals tube-hugging concave depressions near the bolt-holes. This, combined with recommending strap routing around the frame/fork tubing, effectively distributes the stress placed on the cage.
The Anything HD includes two straps and mounting hardware. If you’re using this with the Anything Bag, it’s recommended to keep the straps with the Bag (threading straps through the daisy chain on the Bag is a snug fit). This also helps prevent the straps from shifting when riding.
Constructed of 500-denier tarpaulin, this radio-frequency welded roll-top can hold 4.5L of goodness in waterproof bliss. Its flat bottom makes for easy packing of the upright persuasion.
Both are in stock at your friendly neighborhood Cyclosource store as of this typing but better get them quick before Anything turns to Nothing as these have been going out the door like heat in the winter. We also carry the original Anything Cage as well as a full assortment of bikepacking accoutrement.
See you out there and keep the rubber side down.
