I've always loved Montreal. I love it even more since my last visit. Kat and I spent eight days exploring the city, exclusively using their bike share program, Bixi. You'll find my write-up of our wanderings in the recent Oct/Nov 2015 issue of Adventure Cyclist magazine.
Montreal is currently ranked as the twentieth most bike-friendly city in the world on the Copenhagenize Index. Protected bike lanes, tons of bike paths, and over 400 bike share stations made us feel right at home as cyclists. But what really made Montreal stand out, unlike most cities in North America, is that you'll see just as many women riding bikes as men. As it should be!
If you visit Montreal, I recommend that you wake up early each morning and watch the parade of humanity on bikes moving through the city. What a great way to start the day.
