The Young Adult Bike Travel Scholarship was developed in response to our members' overwhelming enthusiasm and commitment to Adventure Cycling's mission to inspire and empower people of all ages to travel by bicycle.
Awards will be offered in two separate categories, based on experience level – "Intro to Bike Travel" and "Outdoor Leadership." Both tracks are designed to support young adults of varying levels of experience and cover the cost of attending an Adventure Cycling educational course (Intro to Road Touring or Leadership Training Course) with other participants of all ages.
Upon completion, scholarship recipients will take what they've learned and apply it to an outreach activity to promote bicycle travel in their communities.
The scholarship is intended to provide the resources and skills necessary for people ages 18-30 to embark on a lifetime of bike travel. We developed the scholarship to enable people in an age group that don't typically have the financial resources to travel by bike.

Why not a scholarship for 60+ bike tourist? On all my ACA trips most of the riders are above 50 and usually venturing into selfsupported cyclotourist for the first time. Retirees are the fast growing market and I talk with my fellow older cyclist about my ACA trips all the time.
Hear hear Ben!!
I find it is older people (I am 49) who are afraid to go on adventures. Many become stuck in their ways and find it difficult to summon the courage they had when they were younger to step out of their comfort zone.
I am 18 months into my cycle tour and loving it. I'd love to be eligible to apply for this scholarship.
Kind regards
Umm, presumably once you're 60+ you've had a reasonable chance to save some money to fund your own adventures??
