More than 10,000 people on over 800 unique trips throughout the world will go on bike overnights on the same weekend — National Bike Travel Weekend, June 3–5. It’s not too late to be part of the biggest bike travel weekend. Here’s how.
1. Register your trip at BikeTravelWeekend.org. Plan a trip that works for you. It can be one night, two nights, or part of a longer trip. You can go 100+ miles to your favorite campground, hotel, hostel, or bed and breakfast. Or pedal a few miles or even a few blocks to grandma’s house or a Warmshowers host. Make it your trip.
2. Join an existing trip. View the interactive map of National Bike Travel Weekend trips and find a trip to join. The trips marked with a dark purple pushpin are open for others to join. Email the organizers and make your plans. There are trips in all 50 states, Washington, D.C., and over a dozen countries.
3. Connect with a National Bike Travel Weekend Ambassador. If bike travel is new to you or you are new to your area, contact a National Bike Travel Weekend ambassador for general bike travel information or specific tips on where to go in your state. The Ambassador may even have room on his or her trip for you to join.
4. Inspire others to go on a bike overnight. Post your trip on your social media pages — Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Snapchat, Tumblr. Email your friends and talk about National Bike Travel Weekend with friends. Hang up a poster or flyer. Write a newsletter article for your bike club. Even if you can’t participate in National Bike Travel Weekend, you can still share the bike travel love with others. You’ll be surprised at who you inspire.
All of the National Bike Travel Weekend sharing resources are free to download online. National Bike Travel Weekend products are also available for purchase on our Zazzle store. Purchase the apparel and accessories with the National Bike Travel Weekend logo that fits you best — from t-shirts and hats to mugs and tote bags.
