April 17, 2017
Adventure Cycling will be closed on Monday, April 17, to celebrate our very own holiday, Thomas Stevens Day.
Who was Thomas Stevens?
In his May 2010 Adventure Cyclist feature, "The Fearless Traveler: Around the world with Thomas Stevens," (PDF) Geof Koss wrote, "He’s best known as the first person to ride a bicycle around the world, but over the course of his 10-year exploring career, Stevens also drank champagne in the wilds of Africa with the famed explorer Henry Morton Stanley, interviewed novelist Leo Tolstoy while riding a horse across Russia, and roamed India with a camera while investigating the strange powers of Hindu mystics."
Most of us are just taking a three-day adventure somewhere in Montana, but maybe we'll use the time to plan an around-the-world trip, or, maybe you will! Have a great day whether you're celebrating the inspiring tale of Thomas Stevens, Earth Day, or simply enjoying your friends and family.
We will re-open on Tuesday, April 18.
Don't forget to join Adventure Cycling Association, the Missoula Art Museum, and the City of Missoula for the opening dedication of Missoula’s new park, the Missoula Art Park, on Friday, April 21, from 4:30 to 7:30 PM.
