Two weeks ago, we announced our complete 2014 tours schedule. Daylight savings ends in a little over a week, and that's a sad day indeed for cyclists hoping snag a few hours in the saddle after the 9-5 grind. If you're looking for a light to extend your ride time, or perhaps keep yourself visible for those dark commutes to and from the office, the Solite 250EX from Light & Motion is a solid option worth checking out.

Upon my return from a fantastic North American Cartographic Information Society (NACIS) meeting, I found a link to a product video in my inbox for something called MAP. Feeling a little overwhelmed by all that I took in while at that meeting in Greenville, South Carolina, I hesitated to click on it. Boy, am I glad I did!
Made famous in large part by the fabulous documentary Ride the Divide and its subject, the unsanctioned, winner-takes-nothing-but-bragging-rights Tour Divide race, which runs the route's entire 2,774 miles, the Great Divide Mountain Bike Route has received incredible media coverage over the last few years. The route's solitude and beauty is accessible to cyclists of all kinds. Watch this video to see why you might want to ride the Great Divide.
In my October 8 post, I mentioned that we have created an all-new edition of the guidebook Cycling the Great Divide: From Canada to Mexico on North America's Premier Long-Distance Mountain Bike Route. The new edition, 250 pages in length compared to 220 pages in the first edition, includes the 254-mile Canadian section.

"There is nothing like having an encounter with a grizzly bear to make a tiny cabin feel like a castle fortress. We slept like logs. You see, bears just make travel better."
I'm checking in from Greenville, South Carolina, at the 2013 North American Cartographic Information Society (NACIS) annual meeting. I've already learned so much from my colleagues on the first day. I can only image what knowledge and new inspiration I'll bring back to the office next week.
In this video, Adventure Cyclist contributor Patrick O'Grady takes a look at the Jeff Jones City & Touring bike. The full review appears in the October/November 2013 issue of Adventure Cyclist magazine, which is now available online for Adventure Cycling members.

In 2000, about two years after all the maps had been printed for the Great Divide Mountain Bike Route, we published a guidebook with possibly the longest name ever for a book: Cycling the Great Divide: From Canada to Mexico on America's Premier Long-Distance Mountain Bike Route.
As you may know, Adventure Cycling’s mission is to inspire and empower people to travel by bicycle. Well, last week I was inspired by an amazing group of cyclists when I got the chance to ride my bike from New York City to Washington DC on Climate Ride.

In mid-June, my daughter Caroline, wife Betsy, and I completed our own pilgrimage on the Camino de Santiago from Pamplona to Santiago de Compostela. We dubbed it the 3-2-1 Tour: 3 people, 2 wheels, and 1 pancreas. I’ll explain the pancreas part in a minute.
