April showers bring May flowers, or so they say. To me, this time of year seems to bring wet clothes, muddy streets, and the infamous mud stripe down the backside. But hey, continue to enjoy and rejoice in the warmer, longer, fresh spring days — without looking like you went swimming through a muddy ditch.
This month, in honor of an unpredictable Mother Nature and the upcoming Bike Travel Weekend, June 2–4, we at Cyclosource thought we would share a few products we like to keep you out enjoying spring, while avoiding rain-soaked pants, cold fingers, and even hypothermia.
First, to prevent the soaked pants, we highly recommend checking out Storm Pants from Showers Pass: sharp looking pants to keep you warm and dry. And for a true high-visibility option, check out Storm Pants’ bigger, brighter brother: the Club Visible Pant, offering a bit more protection from the elements and a much brighter look. Pair it with their excellent Crosspoint Softshell Glove, you know, if frozen fingertips aren’t your thing.
You can also keep your legs dry with a nice set of fenders from Planet Bike. Once you ride in the rain with fenders and find out how comfortable you stay, you'll probably never go back to the fenderless, muddy, ice-water spray.
Keeping your torso dry and warm is another ticket to a successful ride or commute. While there are a plethora of jackets out there right now, these Showers Pass jackets, the Storm Jacket, Elite 2.1 Jacket, and Transit Jacket, as well as the Cycling Series Jacket from O2 Rainwear, have all been thoroughly tested, abused, and continue to keep us dry, ride after ride. So go ahead, give it a peek and remember to show your support for Bike Travel Weekend by wearing Bike Travel Weekend branded t-shirts or socks.
Until summer official arrives, enjoy the rain, mud, and splashy fun that accompanies this time of year. Just remember, stay dry, warm, happy, and remember to Register A Bike Overnight in the process! You could win prizes, and you’ll be helping to spread the love of bike travel.
