Celebrating 80 Years on the Southern Tier

Many people have different ways of celebrating a milestone birthday. There’s the sweet sixteen, going out with friends on you 21st, the decade celebrations of 30 and 40, going “over the hill” at 50, and on and on. We love celebrating milestones!

This year, was a special milestone for one of our Southern Tier riders, Lou Schweickart, who decided to celebrate his 80th birthday riding with Adventure Cycling! May 7th was the big day, and after a leisurely ride through southwest Florida, it was time to celebrate.

The day was full of surprises and celebrations, filled with cake, streamers, and ice cream overnighted from a favorite ice cream shop back home. What makes a great day even better? A surprise visit from loved ones! Two of Lou's sons and one of his grandsons came down from Cincinnati for the big day.

It was a great day to celebrate, and one that Lou will remember for years to come. Only being days away of finishing an amazing journey this celebration will truly help push them to the Atlantic. Happy Birthday Lou, from all of us at Adventure Cycling, and thanks for celebrating with us!
