Why has Destination Irvine chosen to support the U.S. Bicycle Route System.
Irvine has the most open space in Orange County, featuring miles of hiking and biking trails along with miles of paved bike paths. As a unique asset to the destination, we have focused our public relations and marketing efforts to include outdoor recreation, so to support the U.S. Bicycle Route System seemed like a natural opportunity.
While known as a business-focused destination, Irvine offers cyclists over 300 miles of on-road cycling lanes and 50 miles of off-road bike trails including, Irvine Regional Park featuring several biking trails, as well as Quail Hill preserve, Mason Regional Park, and Bommer Canyon.
Under the Greater Irvine Chamber of Commerce, a non-profit 501(c)6, Destination Irvine, funded by a self-imposed assessment tax through a Hotel Improvement District (H.I.D.), positions Irvine as a destination for visitors, meetings and groups. Destination Irvine through direct sales efforts including database marketing, lead generation, trade show participation, and familiarization tours, sells the destination. In addition, Destination Irvine promotes Irvine through marketing, advertising, and public relations efforts.
As the official destination marketing organization for Irvine, the mission of Destination Irvine is to partner with the tourism and hospitality industry to brand and promote Irvine as a preferred overnight destination in Southern California for groups, sports events, leisure visitors, and business travelers. Destination Irvine’s goals are designed to enhance the economy of the city of Irvine through sustained growth in tourism spending, resulting in an increase in economic impact.
Irvine was master-planned to be an economic powerhouse and offer an extraordinary quality of life. A leading business center with more than 100 global corporations, a family-oriented multicultural community where residents speak more than 70 languages, and a leader in education, Irvine is where community, business, and nature are in harmony.
Beautifully manicured office parks are surrounded by more than 12,000 acres of open space, the most in the county, offering residents and visitors alike preserved natural habitats and wildlands with miles of hiking and biking trails. You’ll also appreciate Irvine being recognized as “America’s Safest Big City” by the FBI since 2005.
