Five days have gone by in our Build it. Bike it. Be a part of it. campaign for the U.S. Bicycle Route System.
So far USBRS supporters have contributed $6,500 for the network, qualifying for the 1:1 match, and getting us closer to our $100,000 campaign goal.
This week, if you donate by Friday (5:00 p.m. MDT), you will be entered to win one of twenty Cygolite setups* valued at $100 each. Thank you to Cygolite for sponsoring today in the USBRS campaign.
How will your donation help build the U.S. Bicycle Route System?
Each mile of the USBRS must be identified as a potential route, approved and designated by the state Departments of Transportation (DOTs), plotted on a map, and ultimately signed like any other highway route. Once this network is complete the routes will be self-explanatory. The signs will tell you what route you are on, when to turn to stay on the route, and what direction you are headed. Important junctions with other U.S. Bike Routes will also be marked. Every step of this process, from planning, to mapping, to signing and more, requires substantial time and financial input from Adventure Cycling, the state DOTs, and the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials. Your contribution supports Adventure Cycling's work to coordinate with all of these entities in the processes of planning, designation, and implementation; and promote the routes through signs and map development. Without your support, this project could cease to exist.
If you are a cyclist or know someone who is, please help us spread the word and raise money for what could be America’s cycling treasure: the U.S. Bicycle Route System.
Build it. Bike it. Be a part of it. Today.
