Bright Lights, Big City

December 7, 2010

Even when you have a really awesome job, and you get to work at the Adventure Cycling world headquarters, sometimes it's a good idea to get away from it all. That's why, when you're reading this post, I'll be in the Big Apple: relaxing, visiting friends, family, and generally enjoying big city life. And, you're never going to believe this -- I'm not bringing my bicycle. I guess even I have an off season. Do you?

If we ever meet and get to talking, one thing you'll find out about me is that I love music, and one of my favorite bands of all time is The Talking Heads. I love David Byrne as a musician and as an artist, so, although I won't have anything to lock up, I plan on visiting a few of the Art/Bike Racks he has designed and placed around the city. They're inspired by each neighborhood -- for instance, the one near Wall Street is shaped like a giant dollar sign. The high-heeled shoe above is on Fifth Avenue.
