2013 Share the Joy Winners & Scholarship Donation

As 2013 drew to a close, so did our 2013 Share the Joy program. Share the Joy encourages members to share Adventure Cycling Association with their friends and cycling buddies, and also awards fabulous prizes throughout the year. Here are the winners and their prizes from the second half of 2013:

July: Bruce, a 4-year member from McLeod, Montana, won a Thudbuster Seat Post from Cane Creek

August: Randolph, a 19-year member from Washington, DC won an Everest jacket from Canari

September: Chris, an 8-year member from Tacoma, Washington, won a Toocan bag from Detours

October: Neil, a 7-year member from Knoxville, Tennessee, won an Everest jacket from Canari

November: Scott, a 2-year member from Encinitas, California, won a grab bag from Two Knobby Tires

Our 2013 Share the Joy grand prize winners for a Raleigh Sojourn touring bike were Rob and Pat Wheelhouse, Adventure Cycling joint Life members from Rochester, New York. When we contacted Rob and Pat to let them know they had won the bike, they decided that since they already have two good bikes, they wanted to donate this bike to one of the recipients of the Adventure Cycling Youth Touring & Leadership Scholarship. Rob rode the Northern Tier Route in 2002 and wants to help a young person experience the joy of bicycle travel as he has.

When Raleigh learned of this generous donation, they decided to provide another Sojourn bicycle to our Youth Scholarship program, so that we can offer great touring bikes to both of the scholarship recipients.

New for 2014, the Youth Touring & Leadership Scholarship provides the opportunity for two young candidates to attend one of Adventure Cycling’s education courses free of cost. Learn more about the program or donate to the scholarship fund today.
