2013 Bike Overnights Roundup

January 21, 2014

It's been a great year on BikeOvernights.org. 50 new stories were posted during 2013, and the number of states represented shot up from around 30 to 43. The seven states not yet represented are Maine, South Carolina, Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana, Kentucky, and Wyoming.

When I was asked to highlight my three or four favorite bike overnights from 2013, I figured it was going to be easy. After I began thinking about it, however, I decided it was going to be impossible. And so, here are eight of my favorites, but not my eight favorites. There are others I enjoyed just as much as these.

Little Elbow to Mount Romulus — A Girl's Adventure with Grammy (posted January 14)

West Fork Butte Lookout: An Overnight in the Sky (February 18)

Bike Camp! Waterbury and Middlebury Gap (March 4)

St. Louis on a Single Speed (July 18)

The Covered Bridges of Sugar Creek (July 22)

Milton Keynes to Fringford by Bike: A Cycling Microadventure (August 19)

Twin Cities Western Suburbs Beer Tour (September 9)

The Rectangle Ride: Bloated Fish & Butt Raisins (December 23)

I challenge you to read these stories and and to set out on your own bike overnight!
