Will travel by car from Grand Rapids area to The National Park Service Platte River Campground just North of the city of Frankfort on M-22. Will be camping Friday and Saturday nights, ride will take place on Saturday. Starting on moderate paved surfaces, will follow M-22 north for about 10 miles to the city of Empire, connecting with the Sleeping Bear Heritage Trail. Surface is paved for about 17 miles to the city of Glen Arbor. Challenging sections of trail, especially Dune climb will make this trip a moderate/moderate+ on the ride scale. Glen Arbor will be the lunch stop, pace will be laid back, plenty of time for sightseeing and picture taking. This will be a family outing with the possibility of adding a couple of work associates. Will utilize one non-electric camp site at the campground for two vehicles and 2-3 tents. Fees for camping are listed at National Park Service(NPS), Platte River Campground, located within boundries of Sleeping Bear Dunes.
