This Iowa state park is named after the state rock which is frequently found in the area. Geodes bring "rock hounds" to the local area in search of this elusive prize. The trip there from Denmark, Iowa is on a paved road, with a climb on the way that is approximately a quarter of a mile long, that has a short section near 12%. The road winds through Geode State Park, along the lake, with a couple very short climbs in the park that also top out near 12%. Camping in the campground is permitted, with electric only sites, full hook-up sites, as well as primitive site available by with or without reservations on a first-come basis. Shower facilities are also available in the campground to campers. Day picnic sites are also available in several areas of the park. The park also has a hiking trail that winds through the park and around the lake that is 7.5 miles long. The return bicycle trip to Denmark is by the same route as going to the park, with a gradual half-mile 9% climb.
