Starting at the Twin Bridges, MT, Bike Camp, we'll travel around five miles southwest on Highway 41 (paved) to Pennington Road (gravel). That becomes the "Burma Road" that goes along a scenic stretch of the Big Hole River. About 16 miles into the trip we'll stop at Notch Bottom fishing access for lunch and a break before heading back on the same route. Notch Bottom is a noted point with history related to the Lewis and Clark expedition. If desired, we can add more gravel and have a shorter stretch of Highway 41 to ride. It's a 32-mile out-and-back ride. We'll shoot for a 10 a.m. departure from the bike camp, which has ample parking.
Difficulty level is moderate, with some elevation gain. The gravel road is fairly good. Recommend gravel or mountain bike.
